<#1 Going to School>  

Detroit, MI summer of 1986. Sweet melodies from the stereo got mama movin' and shakin' to Marvin Gaye. Her hands are just a wailing, feet just a stompin', shooed, you would've thought mama was in the studio with Marvin singing Sexual Healing. When those old school classics came on mama had this peace that came over her soul. The energy was so strong even I felt my soul shift and I was only 5!! My heart shifted right in love with The Temptations, B.B. King, Deneice Williams, Minnie Ripperton, Smokey, Curtis Mayfield and so many more!!!

See, back then music had a way to control your emotions. Although we have that today it felt so much better back then. Then, things were more real, like the wars and poverty, the riots and robberies, being in love and recovering from a broken heart. These were situations that provoked artist back then to make the classics that till this very day have me Dangerously in Love with music........

I can remember being an 11 year old kid bumping Sade and Earth Wind & Fire. My friends were like "What are you listening to? That sounds good and all but you need to be on that  Salt n Pepa and New Edition"
