    As you can see this crowd has no interest in having a discussion on the issues.  S.ph.s started out somewhat respectful early on in our discussions and gradually became un-hinged as time went on.  S.ph.s, it's really not my intention to antagonize you.  Perhaps the use of the word "ignore" sent you off the deep end, but I really just can't have a productive debate with you about the war on terrorism when you believe the attacks on our country were an inside job.  The truth is I find it insulting, but I will try to take the high ground here and just agree to disagree. 

    Bela, I'm going to assume that you do not share the "inside job" scenario which S.ph.s has put forth, which is a good thing.  And I will give you some credit for posting articles from time to time which are relevant to our discussions even though I may often disagree with the premise.  Still, your comments are often inflammatory and designed to antagonize rather than sincerely argue a point.  For example, if your goal was to win someone over to your side of the argument, the best way to achieve this is to put forth a persuasive argument by presenting facts and commentary that strengthens your points and contradicts my points.  Instead, you attempt to discredit those who disagree with you and in some cases avoid addressing the points that were made.  One example of this is your constant attempt to point out that I myself have not been in the military and therefore should not support our military efforts.  You did it again when I made reference to Patrick Henry's brilliant quote.  I support our military because they are fighting for our National security, our freedom and that of the Iraqi people.  As I've said before, I also support our law enforcement and fire fighters and I'm not a policeman or fire fighter myself.  The fact that you continue on this course rather than attempt to have a discussion just exposes your weak positions.

    I just have to say one thing to Kari if she is still reading this....  If a band of thugs broke into your house and intended to kill you and your family, I don't believe for a second that you would stand back and let it happen.  You would grab a knife, a bat, or the most lethal weapon you could find to protect yourself and your children.  Even animals do whatever is necessary to protect their young from invading predators, and we are no different.  Kari, I really do not mean to upset you with this senario... please understand that it's completely hypothetical.  Unfortunately there are very evil people in the world who wish to do us harm and things like this happen to good people all the time.  The radical Islamic enemy we face is no different.  They are as evil as they come, and unless you stand up to them or submit to their oppressive religion, all the Reki in the world will not spare the world from spreading their death and misery.  Self preservation is instinct for all living creatures, which is not something we can or should ignore.

I'd like to call it more like "u scratch my back & i will scratch yours" kind of a bond. S.ph.s says we are fighting an "imaginary war on terror".  About Al Qaida he says mockingly that "they want us American & Western infidels to die a miserable death" and calls this a "brain dead" theory.  Kari says of these terrorists that they have mothers, brothers, sisters, daughters, sons, etc... yet ignores the fact that they are proud when their family members die as "martyrs" when killing infidels.  You don't believe me?  See the following quotes:

Wake up people, this enemy does not fear death because they have a mandate from God.  If we sit back and allow them to grow and acquire more sophisticated weapons, they will unleash their deadly attacks on millions of innocent people.

There is definitely a strange trend going on in the current diplomatic/political bonds between the US Admin & the Middle East, which resembles more like a Sado-masochistic affair!

i think Osama is doing everything within his powers to create this "fear" thru different mediums....which incidentally ALWAYS falls so conviniently in the NeoCons laps.

The people who share ur sentiments Jeff, are of the conviction that we need to CONTROL the region with power & force if necessary, because of this "fear" that has been spreaded in the air by different means.....notice that the MAIN part of this "war" is happening thru the medias & the internet!

In any case, i have very good reasons now NOT to trust ur motives for wanting to debate here, because of the reasons i mentioned in the very 1st line of this post.
