So me and a friend were driving around at about midnightish tonight, and we saw the moon a night past its halfway point, waxing moon. The moon was fairly big in the sky, and above the horizon and treeline (we live in a vally area, so the horizon is flat).

We lost sight of the moon, as we were driving away from it, and when we had it back in our sights, the moon turned blood (darkish) red in that time, and began to sink back below the horizon. within 10-15 minutes, it dipped back below the horizon, and we lost sight of it.

So, even if it means nothing at all, what are your opinions on this, based on your knowledge of this kind of thing (could be completely superstition, but I figured it would be good to know what its supposed to mean, superstition aside).

Moon rises above the horizon, turns blood(darkish)-red, and then dips below the horizon again.

Any scientific viewpoint on this matter would be awesome as well... ive never seen a moon rise above the horizon as its supposed to at night, and then dip back below the horizon again... let alone see it turn blood(darkish) red at the same time, if ive ever seen it do that ever (could be the haze, its around Vancouver so its an explanation as to how it turned red).

Well I discovered the answer to this odd mystery. The moon was making its journey across the sky during the day and finished it during the tie we saw it sinking, when I thought it was rising then sinking; the red was probably due to the pollution and lights fromt he city. Mystery solved. Funny how the moon goes throught the sky during the day instead of the night though.
