Can anyone advise re: these two tarot cards

I recently did a tarot card reading to find out what the outcome would be for a friend of mine and I need to know what it means when the following two cards appear as the last two cards: Can anyone advise please?

The best course of action card was -3cups

The outcome card was- 9 of Swords

The couple are having a baby so the 3of cups is a good sign but I am worried about the meaning of the 9of Swords

    Any ideas?

    Thanks ....Karyn

Your question is incomplete because its important to know what your friends query was all about before these two cards can be deciphered in its proper context.

However as a generalised reply, I would say that:

Best Course of action (3 of Cups) would be to lighten up, be merry, look forward to the joy of having this baby.

Outcome with 9 of swords could mean: Too much anxiety and worries could be the cause of a self fulfilling prophecy. Anxiety could be about having a healthy baby etc. Maybe not truly ready yet to start a family perhaps so these to could be reasons for worries and fears.

Hopefully this interpretation may give you further insight for your reading.

    Hey Karyn

I would agree with the other reply. Three of cups celebration excitement of the baby. I feel the 9 of swords is as some call it the card of nightmares but these nightmares are brought about by the person worrying when they dont need to worry. How were the other cards in the spread?

Re: Can anyone advise re: these two tarot cards

The nines are a cards of completion as are the tens...the picture on the nine of swords is somewhat disturbing...sleeping next to nine swords!!!

But what needs to be looked in the picture at is that the person is sitting up "awake" after having a nightmare...he/she still "feels" the effects of fear but "the source of it is gone"...it was just a dream and now he/she is safe in their own bed...

He/she is awake and they "see" that what they feared was just in their minds and was not real at all even though it "appeared" to be...this is true of all our fears...they are not real they are bit figments of our imagination and we are the ones scaring ourselves...the goal is to "awaken" from the dream and realize that all fear is gone and what is truly gone has no effects...

So all the "worries" were for naught...time is for celebration and allowing oneself to see that all they feared was not there all...

Blessings to the happy family and to you too...

All it means is that she is having a baby and is really worried about it and has fears.  I would pull more cards to find out what the fear is.  Maybe its the pain of labor, maybe it wondering if she'll be a good mother, maybe her husband is being a jerk lately.  Who knows?  But it is perfectly normal to be scared when pregnant and there are plenty of reasons.  I would just let her know that everything is going to be ok and she can handle it.
